No. ALM-202107010 Scientific practical project on the topic “DEVELOPMENT OF THE MONITORING SYSTEM OF CHANGE IN THE MASS BALANCE OF MOUNTAIN GLACIERS AND THE SCENARIOS DESCRIBING THE FUTURE STATE OF GLACIERS IN THE CONDITIONS OF GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE”

Executive organization: Scientific Research Institute of Hydrometeorology.

Partner organizations: Institute of Geology and Geophysics, National University of Uzbekistan.

Project implementation period: July 2021 – June 2024.

The goal of the project is to establish a complex monitoring system using existing methods – glaciological, remote sensing and modeling – to study annual changes in the mass balance of glaciers in the face of climate change. In the project, a complex approach to monitoring glaciers is one of the main tasks of calculating the shape and size indicators of glaciers and developing scenarios describing the future state of the mass balance of glaciers.

Expected scientific results:

• Results of the monitoring of changes in the annual mass balance of the Middle Barqirak glaciers;

• The contribution of avalanches to the saturation of the Barqirak glacier;

• Seasonal change of the height of the snow line of the Barkirak Glacier;

• Quantitative indicators of the contribution of snow and ice water in the flow formation in the Aygaing river basin (Tekeshsay, Ayutor and Barqirak);

• Morphometric indicators describing the current state of the glaciers of the Pskom river basin obtained on the basis of satellite data;

• a scenario describing the state of glaciers developed on the basis of field observations and climatic data (until 2050);

• Scenarios of changes in the flow of mountain rivers until 2050;

• Morphometric indicators of glacial lakes in the Pskom river basin and scenarios of their change until 2050.

No. ALM-202107009 “CREATION OF A MONITORING SYSTEM AND ITS MOBILE APPLICATION FOR HAZARDOUS HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL PHENOMENA (STRONG WINDS, RAINFALLS, FLOODS) ON THE BASIS OF DATA FROM THE COSMO-CA DIGITAL WEATHER FORECAST MODEL”

Executive organization: Scientific Research Institute of Hydrometeorology.

Partner organizations: National University of Uzbekistan.

Project implementation period: July 2021 – June 2023.

The purpose of the project: to forecast dangerous hydrometeorological events (strong winds, hailstorms and floods) observed in certain regions at certain time intervals during the period when the global climate change process is accelerating in the country, to use the early warning system with the number of weather forecasts It is planned to create a portal based on models and geoinformation cards.

Expected scientific results:

• The accuracy of the calculation results of the COSMO-CA model with a grid size of 2.2 x 2.2 km for the mountainous regions of Uzbekistan will be increased;

• The calculation accuracy is increased by including the data of MRLs in the Uzgidromet network into the COSMO-CA model;

• fieldextra software package is launched to determine additional parameters (layer average temperature, inversion layer, vertical temperature gradient, etc.) based on model calculation results;

• transition to the ICON model is achieved;

• the quality of visualization of model calculation results is increased;

• prognostic cards describing the formation centers and intensity of strong winds and torrential rains will be created;

• based on the results of the model, a methodological manual for forecasting strong winds and rains will be developed;

• regression equations of the relationship between the arrival time of the floods formed in the mountain river basin and the meteorological factors, in particular, the intensity and amount of rains, are created.

№ AL-21071175 “CREATION OF A CARTOGRAPHIC MODEL AND ITS APPENDIX THAT SHOWS THE INDIVIDUAL TOURISM COMPETENCE AND DIVERSIFYING TOURS IN TOURISM AREAS TAKING INTO ACCOUNT BIOCLIMATIC CONDITIONS”

Executive organization: Scientific Research Institute of Hydrometeorology.

Partner organizations: Chirchik State Pedagogical Institute of Tashkent region, National University of Uzbekistan.

Project implementation period: April 2022 – March 2023.

The purpose of the project is to assess the climatic conditions of the city of Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khorezm regions, to determine their biometeorological conditions by means of the thermohygrometric coefficient of air dryness, to study the laws of distribution of bioclimatic conditions in space and space, to create new tourist centers for different seasons of the year, taking into account the bioclimatic conditions of tourist centers. developing tour packages and achieving the stability of tourism throughout the year, giving necessary suggestions for creating tourist programs taking into account the comfort period of the day in the regions, developing recommendations for the development of road infrastructure in tourist centers, a cartographic model embodying the results obtained at the end of the project and its create a mobile application.

Expected scientific results:

• for the first time, the possibility of using the thermohygrometric coefficient of air dryness as a biometeorological index is scientifically based;

• based on it, the bioclimatic resources of Uzbekistan will be assessed for the first time;

• additional tourist “growth poles” are identified in research objects based on bioclimatic conditions;

• an econometric model connecting bioclimatic conditions and tourist flow will be developed;

• effective use of targeted budget funds and investments is achieved;

• A cartographic model of the tourist potential of the research objects and a mobile application will be created based on it, which will allow local and foreign tourists to choose the most favorable seasons;

• on the basis of determining the tourist flow, forecasts will be developed to increase the number of accommodation facilities and tourist service entities.
