Structure of the department:

Laboratory of agro-climatic resources and agro-ecological monitoring

The main tasks of the department:

Scientific research of the Department of Agricultural Meteorology consists of providing agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan with agro- and zoometeorological data.

The scientific activities of the department include:

• Research the variability of agro-climatic resources;

• Improve  methods of agrometeorological condition assessment and long-term agroclimatic forecasting and create new ones;

• Develop agrometeorological advice for modeling the processes of formation of crop productivity and making the necessary optimal economic decisions on the basis of regular and quick information on the cultivation, development and formation of productivity of new varieties of leading agricultural crops;

• Study the agro-hydrological heat regime on the territory of Uzbekistan;

• Introduce new surface and remote measurement tools in order to increase the level of provision of agrometeorological data and technical re-equipment of control and experimental work;

• Provide improvement and development of new scientifically based methods of agrometeorological service to agriculture;

• Provide methodical recommendations and assistance in the preparation of instructions for operational units of Uzgidromet and network units in the field of agrometeorology, as well as provide methodical advice and referrals in the implementation of planned tasks of monitoring agrometeorological observation works at existing stations;

• Prepare scientific and practical references for agricultural production.

Field of use:

• Monitoring agrometeorological conditions in the agricultural regions of Uzbekistan, ensuring the operation of the system for collecting, processing and storing information on meteorology and agrometeorological conditions;

• Provision of agro-climatic information to the republican government and economic organizations, cotton growing, grain farming, fruit and vegetable growing, viticulture, and livestock sectors of Uzbekistan’s agriculture.
