A group of experts from Uzgidromet, Hydrometeorology Scientific Research Institute and Tashkent Hydrometeorology Technical College headed by the director of Uzgidromet Sh.Khabibullayev discussed the prospects of scientific cooperation in Helsinki.

The director of the institute, D. Turgunov, made a presentation about the institute’s activities, ongoing projects and future prospects. He noted that the Institute is interested in studying topics related to meteorology and climate change. During the presentation, “Creation of an interactive system of early warning of the risk of floods and floods in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, “Development of a system for monitoring changes in the mass balance of mountain glaciers and scenarios describing their future state in the conditions of global climate change”, “From the ground and development of dust storm monitoring system technology using satellite data”, “development of a national information platform and mobile application for air quality monitoring in Uzbekistan based on an integrated assessment of the level of pollution and aerogenic risk for the health of the population” were introduced to such projects.

Harry Pietarila, director of project management at FMI, noted that the topics of the Institute’s projects are very similar to FMI’s projects.

In addition, he noted that the development of cooperation in the field of glaciology is very important and interesting for FMI and the countries of Central Asia.

Topics of scientific projects in cooperation were discussed and their implementation was agreed.
