An event was held at HSRI dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Lidia Mikhailovna Karandaeva, candidate of technical sciences, an experienced specialist in the field of hydrology and glaciology

Lidiya Mikhailovna Karandaeva graduated from Tashkent State University (now National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek) in June 1977, received a qualification as a mathematician and was assigned to SANIGMI (now NIGMI Research Hydrometeorological Institute). She began her career in the glaciology department of the NIGMI as an engineer, junior researcher in the laboratory of glaciers and snow cover.
Since October 1, 2008, acting head of the glaciology department. Since 2021, head of the glaciology department. During the work of Karandaeva L.M. took part in the development of scientific topics related to calculations and forecasts of melting and runoff from glaciers. Methods have been developed for calculating the fields of normal monthly amounts of atmospheric precipitation and average monthly air temperatures in the annual cycle using standard data from weather stations in the basins of the Vakhsh, Pyanj, Zeravshan, Charvak, Andijan and Toktogul reservoirs. The methods are implemented in the form of PC programs and are intended for use in glaciological and hydrological calculations and forecasts.

Karandaeva L.M. Certificates were received for the “REAL” program – multivariate linear regression analysis (2008), the Grid_T_Chirchik program is designed to calculate fields of monthly temperature sums in the river basin. Chirchik. (2023), the Grid_q_Chirchik program is written in the FORTRAN algorithmic language and is intended for calculating the fields of monthly (January-December) amounts of atmospheric precipitation. (2024) A unique database of norms of meteorological quantities has been created (air temperature, precipitation) in the nodes of the regular grids within the territory
Results of scientific activities of Karandaeva L.M. reflected in 60 scientific papers, most of them published in the proceedings of international conferences and symposia
In 2005, she successfully defended her candidate’s thesis on the topic “Forecasts of the flow of the Vakhsh and Zeravshan rivers for July, August, September” and was awarded the academic degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences. In 2010 Karandaeva L.M. awarded the title of senior researcher.
Lidia Mikhailovna was repeatedly rewarded with certificates and prizes from the leadership of NIGMI and Glavhydromet. In 2006, she was awarded the title “Excellent Worker of the Hydrometeorological Service of Uzbekistan.”
Currently, in addition to her work as the head of the Glaciology Department of the NIGMI, she is involved in training future specialists and scientists for the hydrometeorology sector of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
For 47 years, the hero of the day has been conducting research in the field of hydrology in the direction of forecasting river flow.
Today we wish our hero of the day long life and good health, surrounded by his beloved family at home and dear colleagues at work!
